Sage Agastya Maharishi
Agathiyar is the most renowned siddhar in the history of Tamil.
He was the father of Tamil literature. The compiling of first Tamil grammar Agathiym went to him.
He had the mastery over language, medicine, alchemy and spirituality. He authored as many as 96 books and some of his famous books are Vaidiya Sigamani, Chendhooram-300, Mani-400, Sivajalam and Sakthijalam. It is considered that he was the direct disciple of Lord Siva. Agastya is a Brahmin who leads an ascetic life, educates himself, becoming a celebrated sage.
His unknown origins have led to speculative proposals that the Vedic-era Agastya may have been a migrant whose ideas influenced the south
Agastya's role in spreading Vedic tradition and Sanskrit is emphasized, while in southern traditions his role in spreading irrigation, agriculture and augmenting the Tamil language is emphasized.In the north, his ancestry is unknown with mythical legends limiting themselves to saying that Agastya was born from a mud pitcher. In southern traditions, his descent from a pitcher is a common reference, but two alternate southern legends place him as the Caṅkam (Sangam) polity and is said to have led the migration of eighteen Velir tribes from Dvārakā to the south.
Agastya is one of the Indian saptarshis who are extolled at many places in the Vedas and a revered Vedic sage and earliest Siddhar.
He is considered as the Father of Tamil literature and compiled the first Tamil grammar called Agathiyam.
He is regarded to have lived around 15000 BCE.
He has made significant contribution to Tamil culture and Tamil literature.
Agastya is regarded as the founder and patron saint of Silambam and Varmam-an ancient science of healing using varmam points for varied diseases and Southern Kalaripayat.
Lord Shiva's son Lord Murugan is said to have taught the art to Agastya who then wrote treatises on it and passed it on to other Siddhar.
His famous books include- Tharkka Sasthiram, Rana Nool etc.
He has written Tamil books on basics of Siddha medicine and logic.

Maharishi Agastya was a Vedic sage. He was the elder brother of Vashistha Muni.
He was born on Shravanashukla Panchami in Kashi. Presently the place is famous as Agasti kund. His wife Lopamudra was a princess of Vidarbha country.
He is considered one of the Saptarishis. At the request of the gods, he left Kashi and traveled to the south and later settled there. Maharishi Agastya was also a Vedic sage in the order of scientific sages. Certainly in the modern era, electricity was invented by Michael Faraday.
Maharishi Agastya was the Rajguru of King Dasharatha. They are counted in the Saptarishis. Maharishi Agastya is called Mantradishta Rishi because he saw the power of those mantras in his penance.
Many mantras of the Rigveda are visualized by him. Maharishi Agastya had told the Suktas from 165 Sukta to 191 of the first Mandal of Rigveda. At the same time, his son Vedichayut and son of Vedichayut, Idmavah are also the seer of the 25th and 26th Sukta of Navam Mandal.
Maharishi Agastya is considered the son of the sage Pulastya. His brother's name was Vishrava, father of Ravana. Pulastya was the son of sage Brahma.
Maharishi Agastya married Lopamudra, the daughter of Vidarbha-king, who was a scholar and Vedanga. In South India, it is said to be the daughter of a Pandya king named Malayadhwaj. Its name there is Krishnekshana. He had a son named Idhamavahana.
Agastya is said to have once drunk the entire waters of the sea with his mantra power, tilted the Vindhyachal mountain, and destroyed the power of the evil demons called Ilval and Vatapi in the city of Manimati.
In the era of Agastya Rishi, the king was Shrutarva, Brihadastha, and Trsadasu. He, along with Agastya, begged Daityaraja Ilval and asked him for wealth and wealth for his kingdom.
